Ginni, a registered nurse at St Joes Hospital in Kirkwood in the labor and
delivery unit, became passionate about starting Equine-Assisted Therapy  in
1999 when she saw a special on the PET network about a young man with
Tourette's Syndrome achieving great advances in self-control and
communication due to a neighbors horse. The young man visited the horse
daily and spoke his very first words to that horse. It amazed his doctors that
the young man was even able to control the outbursts that are common with
Tourettes, so as not to upset the horse.
It took 4 1/2 long years of paperwork, tax filing, incorporartion, business
organization, requesting funds and assistance, planning and preparing before
even one child was placed on a horse but it's been far worth it. She truly loves
every participant, is encouraged by the strength of their parents, and stands
amazed at the kindness and generosity of the volunteers. "I have met the
neatest people of my life at Equine-Assisted Therapy! It has been a true
blessing!"
